This summer I babysat two children on a regular basis. I babysat for a total of 16 hours and found it was a really rewarding experience. I prepared meals, played outdoor games, made craft projects, read to the kids and got them to bed. I got to form relationships with the kids and always left feeling happier than when I arrived. I want to work with kids for my career in the future. I want to be a pediatric nurse, so getting experience working with children is not only something I consider enjoyable but also gives me experience and something to put on my resume.
Courses to Take to Become a Nurse
In unit 4 when I took the career clusters interest quiz, these we're the results I received. My top matches were health sciences, human services and law, public safety and security. I think they hold true to my interests. I've wanted to do something in health sciences for as long as I can remember. I want to be a nurse after I finish high school and I've been drawn to working in a hospital my whole life. I also want to work with children, so I'd like to be a pediatric nurse. I've been thinking about what courses to take to become a nurse for quite a while now and I would consider myself prepared for post-secondary education when it comes to the courses I've selected during high school. I've researched what courses to take to become a nurse and the results that came up were generally biology, chemistry, psychology, math and all the required courses. I'm taking biology 11 and 12, chemistry 11 and 12, psychology 12 and math foundations 11 and 12 to assure that I get in to the nursing program that I'd like to be in. I also have been thinking about places where I should volunteer and would like to start volunteering at hospitals. I consider myself to be a generally prepared person when it comes to my future and I think I'm thoroughly educated as to what I need to do to get into the field that I want to be in.
Reflection
While taking this course, I feel my knowledge of many things has greatly expanded. I learned about how to better use technology and many of the programs it has to offer. I learned about how to lead a healthier life, I feel that I am now more prepared for the curveballs that life throws at you. I feel that I now know more about banking, saving money and budgeting after completing this course. I feel much more prepared when it comes to my future I now know exactly what I want to do when it comes to my career and I know what I need to pursue the career that I want. When I first started this course, I wasn't sure how much I would learn from it but after completing it and I feel that it was very much so worth my time and that I'm taking away things I will apply and remember for a lifetime.
